Faith

Resurrection School is rooted in its Catholic Identity. The Gospel values that are at the intrinsic core of the school are exemplified by the relationships among the administration, faculty, students, parents, and the parish community. From the youngest of the students they are taught that faith is the building block of all positive relationships. The Gospel values permeate the school day through daily religion classes, and students are able to express their faith through weekly Masses and special prayer liturgies planned throughout the year. Students are encouraged to participate fully in the liturgy through ministerial roles such as readers, ushers, altar servers, and choir members. Students are reminded through prayer, service projects, and example that they are in a Christ-centered institution.

Two particular faith-based programs are tradition at Resurrection. The first and eighth grade combine to perform the parish’s annual Living Nativity during the Advent season, and the seventh grade presents the parish’s annual Living Stations every Lent. Students in second and eighth grade participate in retreats planned by parish and faculty staff members to encourage their faith development.

nativityResurrection is a school devoted to serving others, as demonstrated by the many service projects that the school performs throughout the year, such as selling spirit ribbons for mammograms, collecting dollars for cancer awareness, visiting and buying goods through the Rainbow Workshop for disabled adults, collecting funds for the Invisible Children, creating cards for veterans and parents, and visiting the elderly at Hurley Manor, a residential community for the elderly sponsored by the diocese and adjacent to the school, and many more.

The sense of family felt by the priest, teachers, and staff of Resurrection further emphasizes the school’s Catholic identity. All share the desire for each individual student to achieve the highest level of academics and still know that each child is a unique gift from God. Teachers are accessible to students and are always willing to assist them with their schoolwork. The faculty offers remediation daily for those needing additional help. Resurrection School is a school committed to academic excellence, Gospel values, Catholic traditions, and service to others.
